Data Recovery

Whatever model or brand of hard drives your computer has been fitted with, it is only a matter of time before your hard drive crashes. When it does, the amount of work and time required to get all your data back will directly be related to how well prepared you were in the first place.

Here are a few key facts:

-1 hard drive crashes every 15 seconds
-1 in 5 hard drives will fail over the lifetime of your computer
-60% of businesses suffering from major data loss go out of business after 6 months
-The overall average failure rate of disk drives is 100% - all drives eventually fail!

Early warning signs

When a hard drive is about to fail, there are a few signs that should warn you and therefore prompt you to backup your files before it’s too late. These signs are:

-very slow computer to start or to use. It basically takes forever to do a simple task or when you start the computer, you have time to go and make a cup of tea before anything appears on the screen.
-files are missing or become corrupt. You might even get an icon on the bottom left hand side of the screen saying that a read/write error occurred while copying some files.
-Sometimes data corruption is so advanced that the computer will start showing a blue screen and restart randomly.

These signs aren’t just specific to failing hard drives though. They could relate to other issues such as virus infections or other hardware problems.

In order to diagnose the real cause of those problems, the computer needs to be thoroughly checked and our experts can help you to do just that.

What to do next

Before a hard drive fails completely, most of the data can be saved and transferred to a brand new one. Techniques used will vary depending on how corrupt the drive is.

If little corruption is detected then we’ll clone your old drive to a new one. Otherwise we may have to transfer only critical files using more advanced tools.

Either way your files will be saved and you should have a working computer very quickly.
